Sunday 8/21/05 - DepartureWe woke up at 4:00 a.m. We packed up and checked out at 5. We drove to the airport and returned the car. We were there in plenty of time, and watched the sun rise from the terminal. Our flight departed for Atlanta at 7 o'clock.During the stopover in Atlanta we bought a cream cheese danish and a bagel with cream cheese. We boarded our flight to Boston at 10:30 a.m. The plane landed at Logan at 1:10 p.m. Bob and Angela dropped us off at home. It was Sunday, which was our usual afternoon for visiting Frank. It seemed odd not to be heading off to the nursing home today, as we had every other Sunday for the past 18 months. EpilogueSoon after we returned home, Eloise baked a cake and sent it to us in the mail. It survived the trip intact, and was quite tasty! We exchanged Christmas cards with Eloise annually.Facebook made it very easy to keep in touch with Karmilla. She was a Patriots fan as well, so we had quite a bit to talk about as the Pats continued to dominate over the years. She sent us a copy of her jazz CD "Can't Get Out of This Mood," and we really wanted to see her perform. We got that chance in March 2018, when she was singing in Mobile as part of MOJO's Jazz Jambalaya. |
