Next, we drove to the Basilica del Voto Nacional, a gothic basilica which towers over Old Town. This was Sonam's first time inside a Christian church, and it did not disappoint. Its construction began in 1887, and was completed in 1924. The stained glass windows are breathtaking. It is an amazing place.

When we entered, Misa del Niño Jesus (Mass for Baby Jesus) was being celebrated. It was an extra special treat, because the indigenous community of Pueblo Saraguro were participating in the Mass.
