Comments:Hi Craig & Steph!
I'm Marty's roommate. I'm sure you'll meet me on your 2012 trip! I hope to join you on your Cap'n Marty's Island Hop.
The attack fish at Secret Harbour are called Palometa. They are a friendly fish but will bite if they've learned that humans will feed them. On one beach, they "school" with me as I swim "laps" back and forth across the bay. At another beach, a tourist spot, they are more of a pest and will nip.

Looking forward to meeting you this year!

I have Marty and Mike on video doing their soul man rendition in 2002. Have not seen Marty on the island for a couple of years. Mike moved back home in 2005. Talked with him last week and found out his father was not doing well. Mike helping dad with mine. Told him bluedeard's had new management and gave him contact numbers. Wife and I miss the monday nite parties he had at the castle. Marty sometimes would help Mike with the activities. Keep up the good work with this site. Please let me know if you receive this. Comments:Hi,

love your site. Do you have Marty's email address? Marty sold us our BBC timeshare during our honeymoon back in 2000. Lost touch with him and I just wanted him to know that Sue passed away from breast cancer in 2006. Still own my timeshare at BBC and put her ashes out to sea in 2007. She loved the ocean and the beaches. St. Thomas will always hold a special place in my heart.

Comments:I loved your story. We are leaving on 9/26 for Bhutan. (Staying 2 nights in bANGKOK. So much to read I have not finished it. I was going to bring packets of tuna fish and salmon but your discription of the food sounds wonderful. I do not eat meat and fear hot chili peppers, but it sounded really varied. Anything we should be careful of and how bad were the barking dogs.
Love to hear from you

I hope you don't mind me having a look round the rest - I have enjoyed your writing actually, and me being from the UK it was interesting to get your take on things. We have been to similar sorts of places although not exactly the same - Montreal as opposed to Quebec, that sort of thing. I don't have a website so I have put a link to my Mum and Dad's bed and breakfast - not touting for business but I thought you might like the pics of the area and a fairly genuine 18th Century cottage. Anyway, all the best. Mike Hughes

Comments:Hi,
I have just browsed your Guatemala website with great interest. We are off to Guatemala on April 1st this year and are currently trying to get an itinerary together.
Your trip looks wonderful, full of the sort of experiences we are looking for!
I do have a question: do you speak Spanish? It says everywhere that you spoke to so and so, and I wondered if that was all in Spanish or in English?
The other question I would be very grateful if you would answer for me is: what money do we take out? Did you buy Guatemalan money in England? Or did you change American dollars? What is the best?
It's a great website!

I first met you on top of one of the summits in the White Mountains, NH. I'm finally viewing your website. I am taking my first trip abroad to Peru in October07 with REI Adventure. A girl I go hiking with with Eastern Mountain sports was looking for someone to go to Peru with her. I spontaneously said I'd go. At first I was very scared with my decision; but, now I am looking forward to my first real adventure. Both my sister and you mentioned in one of your journals that one can learn more about themselves when they learn about another culture. Thank you for your inspiration! Tricia

Comments:Hey guys:
David H. from Knoxville TN...ran across your website on Raindogs and thought I'd sign your book.

I flew all the way from Knoxville to Seattle in 2004 to see Tom on the 2nd row at the Paramount. Been a fan of his ever since hearing "Better off without a Wife" on the radio in the mid 70's - right after a longtime girlfriend had broken up with me. Thankfully, I've never been the same since. Saw him twice on this tour - including the Nashville show. Even though I never met you guys, we're all kindred spirits - and shall probably meet sometime in the near future at another show. Hope you guys enjoyed Tennessee.

I´m very glad, that you made this detailed list! Thank you!

I´ve been at the Concert too but some weeks after that I unfortunatly forgot the titel of the beautyful ballad "Lost at the Bottom of the World". I´m still looking for a record of this song, which origines from the documentary "Long Gone", but I can´t find one.

Nevertheless, THANK YOU!!

Hi Wendi,

We saw them at Mercado Mexico in Guadalupe, AZ. They seemed to be a seasonal item (they got shipments of them around the time of Day of the Dead), but they still had some in stock when we went at the beginning of January. Thanks for writing!

I am so thankful to find first-hand information on New Zealand as I am planning on going to school in Auckland next year. I'm glad you have adventured in Alaska; I've lived in Fairbanks for almost 9 years and it's definitely unique in its way. Quite beautiful, however, I'm very excited to be going to New Zealand and experiencing the beauty there (I'm more partial to WARM beauty, myself). Anyways, thanks again for the great site and I wish you many more wonderful adventures!

Comments:Hi Craig & Steph: I stumbled upon your page looking for info. on Tikal for a report my daughter is working on. She claimed she couldn't find much on the web about Tikal but I found lots plus More (your website). I loved your pics from Guatemala. They are beautiful. I was born in Guatemala but moved to New Orleans when I was 7 years old. I am now 46. Seeing the processions and the men in their purple robes brought back memories. I could almost smell the incense. I have a picture of myself carrying one of the floats. I have gone back to visit a few times (I have many relatives there), the last time in 2000 when I traveled with my husband and two children. My husband is "gringo" as my family would say. We visited much of the places that you visited and they all loved it! It's always good to know people visit Central America since you wouldn't believe how many people think it is so primitive. Thanks for your site. It's great.

Comments:As Arizona transplants, we were filled with nostalgia reading about your trip to Mesa; Organ Stop Pizza, Cold Stone Creamery, Guadalupe, etc. Thanks for the pix of OSP. We were trying to describe it to some Pennsylvania locals and the photos of the Wurlitzer helped. Glad you enjoyed our native state! We hope to return someday.

Inspired by your beautiful pictures and exciting sotries, I went ahead and signed up for the Peru tour (16 days) with Adventure-Life (thank you!)I will be going in October. Could you tell me what would make nice gifts for the kids over there? I noticed you brought pens and notebooks, do I need to bring a whole bunch of them? Also, could you give me some ideas on what to pack? Thanks

Found your excellent site via comments on Palin's Travels ans have read all about your fantastic trip to New Zealand. We've been twice and are hopefully emigrating to Christchurch next year, so I found it really interesting.

Comments:Well done on such a fab web page. Are you from the Boston area? I love Boston:-) I actually spent 6 months working on Martha's Vineyard and made really good friends with a guy from Arlington, Mass. What are your next trips that you have planned? Maybe you should visit Scotland. Edinburgh in August is packed, but there are the various festivals taking place so it is a very colourful time.
