|Comments:||Hi Craig & Steph!
I'm Marty's roommate. I'm sure you'll meet me on your 2012 trip! I hope to join you on your Cap'n Marty's Island Hop.
The attack fish at Secret Harbour are called Palometa. They are a friendly fish but will bite if they've learned that humans will feed them. On one beach, they "school" with me as I swim "laps" back and forth across the bay. At another beach, a tourist spot, they are more of a pest and will nip.
Looking forward to meeting you this year!

I have Marty and Mike on video doing their soul man rendition in 2002. Have not seen Marty on the island for a couple of years. Mike moved back home in 2005. Talked with him last week and found out his father was not doing well. Mike helping dad with mine. Told him bluedeard's had new management and gave him contact numbers. Wife and I miss the monday nite parties he had at the castle. Marty sometimes would help Mike with the activities. Keep up the good work with this site. Please let me know if you receive this. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your travels. You are living the life that I am aspiring to. So, I am about to begin my journeys with a trip to Mali...with you! Hopefully I will be meeting you in Paris enroute? Susan
|Comments:||Hi Steph and Craig,
We (Lenny and I) had the same trip many years ago and bought a Shams embroidery of a Peacock. ...beautiful!!!!
Your article brought back the excitement we felt on our trip. Thanks for your informative and well done presentation on your trip to India.
love your site. Do you have Marty's email address? Marty sold us our BBC timeshare during our honeymoon back in 2000. Lost touch with him and I just wanted him to know that Sue passed away from breast cancer in 2006. Still own my timeshare at BBC and put her ashes out to sea in 2007. She loved the ocean and the beaches. St. Thomas will always hold a special place in my heart.

|Comments:||I was just looking through the photograph you took of Iris Ann and I at Santa Cruz back in 2004. I still have that Edward Gorey t-shirt, and I still have that blue water bottle. I did, however, get rid of those sunglasses with the pink frames :-)
|Comments:||I loved your story. We are leaving on 9/26 for Bhutan. (Staying 2 nights in bANGKOK. So much to read I have not finished it. I was going to bring packets of tuna fish and salmon but your discription of the food sounds wonderful. I do not eat meat and fear hot chili peppers, but it sounded really varied. Anything we should be careful of and how bad were the barking dogs.
Love to hear from you

|Comments:||Craig and Steph, I loved your St. Lucia journal/photos. It brought back some great memories for me, I lived there from 1998-2000 while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer. Craig, it is so refreshing to read that you would so much rather skip the all inclusives to go local. It's the only way to go!!! Here's a place I'd like to try in Jamaica..

|Comments:||Hi there. I found your site from your Kristin Hersh pics. I saw Kristin at the Sheffield gig last month with my son who is at Uni there. We live in North Wales. I hope you don't mind me having a look round the rest - I have enjoyed your writing actually, and me being from the UK it was interesting to get your take on things. We have been to similar sorts of places although not exactly the same - Montreal as opposed to Quebec, that sort of thing. I don't have a website so I have put a link to my Mum and Dad's bed and breakfast - not touting for business but I thought you might like the pics of the area and a fairly genuine 18th Century cottage. Anyway, all the best. Mike Hughes|
|Comments:||GREAT PICS,KARMILLA LOVED THE PICS ALSO. YOU GUYS REALLY HAVE A LOT OF INTERESTING TRAVELS. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU GUYS AGAIN
I have just browsed your Guatemala website with great interest. We are off to Guatemala on April 1st this year and are currently trying to get an itinerary together.
Your trip looks wonderful, full of the sort of experiences we are looking for!
I do have a question: do you speak Spanish? It says everywhere that you spoke to so and so, and I wondered if that was all in Spanish or in English?
The other question I would be very grateful if you would answer for me is: what money do we take out? Did you buy Guatemalan money in England? Or did you change American dollars? What is the best?
It's a great website!
|Comments:||Thank you for your detailed blog. We will be taking a similar trip pre-Easter this year. Pook's Hill and a house in Placencia. Some inclusions were a little scary to me: scorpions in the thatch, crocodiles in the bushes, pineapple Fanta... At least I know what to expect. Thanks.|
|Comments:||Hi Craig & Steph,
I first met you on top of one of the summits in the White Mountains, NH. I'm finally viewing your website. I am taking my first trip abroad to Peru in October07 with REI Adventure. A girl I go hiking with with Eastern Mountain sports was looking for someone to go to Peru with her. I spontaneously said I'd go. At first I was very scared with my decision; but, now I am looking forward to my first real adventure. Both my sister and you mentioned in one of your journals that one can learn more about themselves when they learn about another culture. Thank you for your inspiration! Tricia
|Comments:||Hey...I just wanted to check to see if you had a chance ot update the site...and I got excited to see that it was last updated in Jan. of '07...until I got to the "Caribbean" section... :^( Boo-hoo! Haven't gotten to that part yet, eh? Get to work! Haha! Love you guys!|

I haven't gone thru your whole site of experiences...but I WILL. Very interesting so far! I'm really enjoying it.
Man...I thought we traveled alot....I think you guys got us beat!
David H. from Knoxville TN...ran across your website on Raindogs and thought I'd sign your book.
I flew all the way from Knoxville to Seattle in 2004 to see Tom on the 2nd row at the Paramount. Been a fan of his ever since hearing "Better off without a Wife" on the radio in the mid 70's - right after a longtime girlfriend had broken up with me. Thankfully, I've never been the same since. Saw him twice on this tour - including the Nashville show. Even though I never met you guys, we're all kindred spirits - and shall probably meet sometime in the near future at another show. Hope you guys enjoyed Tennessee.

|Comments:||I mistakenly found your blog while looking for other information - and I was hooked! I'm a kiwi who married an American, and I loved reading about home, but more importantly from a "non" kiwi point of view. (And I'm maori, so BAH! on those 'surfer dudes') The pictures were beautiful and I'm now very homesick *laugh* but I enjoyed reading your adventures and seeing pics especially from the South Island. (I used to live in Invers. and have also eaten at Moons! :D )
Loved it and had a great time reading, Thanks!

|Comments:||Hi! Brilliant site! I especially loved reading about your trip to Berlin, and seeing the photos - it's my favourite place, and Potsdamer Platz is for me the most fascinating location on earth. (I like Tom Waits too). I'm going to Berlin in September to see my favourite group (Tangerine Dream - still going after all these years).
I just read about your day at the Tulum & Xel-Ha Ruins. It was very informative. Thanks for sharing it will help in our planning. God Bless You

This is Stefan from Dortmund, Germany. I was just searching the web for the tracklist of the songs Tom Waits played in Berlin last November.
I´m very glad, that you made this detailed list! Thank you!
I´ve been at the Concert too but some weeks after that I unfortunatly forgot the titel of the beautyful ballad "Lost at the Bottom of the World". I´m still looking for a record of this song, which origines from the documentary "Long Gone", but I can´t find one.
Nevertheless, THANK YOU!!
|Comments:||Please let me know where I can buy sugar skulls in the Phoenix area. Thanks, Wendi
We saw them at Mercado Mexico in Guadalupe, AZ. They seemed to be a seasonal item (they got shipments of them around the time of Day of the Dead), but they still had some in stock when we went at the beginning of January. Thanks for writing!

I'm an old friend of your Dad's going back over 15 years, previously working with him at Analog Devices in Wilmington, MA. Just got back in touch and was glad to hear your Dad was doing well. Your Mother gave me your website so thought I would check it out. Having lived & worked in Malaysia, Singapore, Philipines and Europe over the last 15 years will give me a new perspective. Let me know if you are ever in Malaysia so we can meet up. Take care and good luck on your travels.

|Comments:||Hey there! Just wanted to say that I'm so jealous of you guys! Granted, I'm young, so I only hope I get to do as much travelling as you have. I am so thankful to find first-hand information on New Zealand as I am planning on going to school in Auckland next year. The pictures were amazing, and most of them are now desktop pictures on my computer! I'm glad you have adventured in Alaska; I've lived in Fairbanks for almost 9 years and it's definitely unique in its way. Quite beautiful, however, I'm very excited to be going to New Zealand and experiencing the beauty there (I'm more partial to WARM beauty, myself). Anyways, thanks again for the great site and I wish you many more wonderful adventures!
|Comments:||Hi Craig and Steph. I just came back from Peru 2 weeks ago and I truely feel that I left my heart there. The tour was absolutely wonderful. I completely fell in love with the country, its rich culture and beautiful scenery. Carlos is a amazing guide (also a friend). He taught us a lot about Peru. Everyday was like live National Geographic program to me. (I am sure you shared the same experience as I did.) Now I've signed up for a Spanish class which will begin Jan 10, 2005. I am so eager to go back to see more of South America :)|

|Comments:||Hi Craig & Steph: I stumbled upon your page looking for info. on Tikal for a report my daughter is working on. She claimed she couldn't find much on the web about Tikal but I found lots plus More (your website). I loved your pics from Guatemala. They are beautiful. I was born in Guatemala but moved to New Orleans when I was 7 years old. I am now 46. Seeing the processions and the men in their purple robes brought back memories. I could almost smell the incense. I have a picture of myself carrying one of the floats. I have gone back to visit a few times (I have many relatives there), the last time in 2000 when I traveled with my husband and two children. My husband is "gringo" as my family would say. We visited much of the places that you visited and they all loved it! It's always good to know people visit Central America since you wouldn't believe how many people think it is so primitive. Thanks for your site. It's great.|
|Comments:||HI I'm Diane from Redwood City, CA. (Over the hill from Half Moon Bay) I came across your site quite by accident on a Google search. I entered it and was hooked! Well, thanks for your site - it was a real adventure!
