Tuesday, August 19, 2025 - Working RemotelyI got up early, worked in our casita, and then moved up to Sisa and Shina's room. I had a meeting, so I needed to eat breakfast in my "office". Breakfast was an egg and potato and hot dog mixture, and I also had yogurt, bread, and coffee.Craig played with Kuri and Nena. The two kids were playing nicely together, Kuri riding on his plastic car, and Nena playing on her bouncy horse that makes whinnying and trotting noises. Kuri then pushed Nena on the car. Then Aida gave the two little ones baths in the outdoor sink. They screamed the whole time. We don't blame them; it was cold outside and the tap water is freezing! Why she doesn't give them showers using the hot water heater, or even heat water on the stove is something we don't understand. Usually she will put water in a bucket in the sun so that it at least heats up a little bit. But today the water was straight from the tap. Brrr! Lunch consisted of soup, chicken in sauce, peas, rice, and tomato/onion salad. When I finished work, we gave Nena and Kuri Lego sets. Kuri got a Duplo excavator and dumptruck, and Nena got a "Lego Friends" set with horses and a horse trailer. Sisa and Shina helped Nena to put hers together. I constructed Kuri's. Once they were put together, they played with them. We joked that Sisa is turning from a K-Pop girl into a Goth girl. She was singing a song that started out "In the back of my mind", and she added "You will die." She was asking us about some English idioms. She asked what the difference is between "One day" and "Day one." I gave an example, "One day, you will get married." She countered with "One day, I will die." We laughed and said she was getting morbid. Kuri sat on the kitchen floor eating bread and playing with his Lego trucks, surrounded by a baby chick and a cat. He looked at me and smiled while I took a picture, and the baby chick took advantage of the opportunity to take a bite out of his bread. It was hysterical! Sisa played online video games with friend Anahi. As evening fell, Craig and I had a cup of coffee to liven ourselves up. While I sat with my foot resting on the crossbeam of the bench at the kitchen table, the baby chick hopped up onto the heel of my sneaker and settled in to roost. This gave everyone a good laugh. I noticed that one of Sisa's cats looks like a flame point Siamese that we have at the Kitty Cat Cafe where I volunteer. Google Lens seemed to agree. Antonio and Aida went to buy groceries and a big pig for Saturday's baptism/Confirmation party. They were not able to find a suitable large pig for sale, so they bought two smaller pigs. For dinner, we had soup, eggs, lentils, hot dogs, rice, and tomato. |
